An engineer by training, a manager by experience, and a business consultant with a natural gift for relating to people, David is a sought after consultant, speaker, and trainer. His clear, direct, yet light-hearted communication style engenders trust across business functions as well as up-and-down the layers of an enterprise.

Repeatedly David has earned the respect of and served as a trusted advisor to senior executives at Fortune-ranked companies including, Lucent Technologies, Southern Company, Rhodia Chemicals, Southern Research Institute, Bell Canada, and others.

Before starting Windward in 2000, David founded the Atlanta office of ESI international, serving as the practice leader, assuming full P&L responsibility, and leading his office to become ESI’s most profitable branch—achieving then maintaining an 80% net margin. A practitioner by choice, David has led teams ranging from 10 to 50 professionals on projects ranging from $10 million to $1 billion in responsibility. David began as a design engineer at Piper Aircraft. When he went to work for Southern Company, his talent for orchestrating complex programs and cross-functional teams was quickly spotted, leading to senior level rotations in engineering, operations, and marketing over the course of 15 years in the utility industry.

David is well-credentialed including an Executive MBA and a Managerial Coaching certificate from Kennesaw State University, an MS in Technology and Science Policy from Georgia Tech, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University.
