Metro Atlanta Business Wins Project Management Institute’s 2012 “Project of the Year” for Biomass Electrical Plant
KENNESAW, GA, June 21, 2012 –Windward Consulting Group, LLC ( www.windward.ws ) received the 2012 “Project of the Year” award from the Project Management Institutes’ (PMI) Atlanta Chapter at the organization’s annual awards banquet, held June 11, 2012. The award recognizes leadership excellence for Windward’s role in planning a $150 million, 41.5 megawatt biomass electrical generation plant to be located in La Crete, Alberta, Canada. Windward founder and CEO David Tennant accepted the award which won in the category of Manufacturing, Engineering and Construction. The award also recognized Cobb County engineering firm International Applied Engineering ( www.iaeinc.com ) which produced the technical design for the plant and the client, Mustus Energy ( www.mustusenergy.com ) headquartered in Calgary.
Tennant directed a team of technical specialists and labs located in North America, Europe and Asia and coordinated their work with financiers and Canadian regulatory agencies. The plant will residual timber from logging operations in local forests as fuel. Biomass (usually from plants) is a renewable energy technology.
